COD Testing Range
APCODR3 — High Range:
0–15,000 mg/L (PPM) COD
This is the highest range in AQUASOL DIGITAL's APCOD COD vial/refill series:
| Model | Range | Capacity |
|---|---|---|
| APCODR1 | 0–150 mg/L | 100 tests |
| APCODR2 | 0–1,500 mg/L | 100 tests |
| APCODR3 | 0–15,000 mg/L | 100 tests |
Testing Principle
The water sample is oxidized using a hot sulfuric-acid solution containing potassium dichromate, with silver sulfate as catalyst. Chloride interference is masked using mercury sulfate. The remaining dichromate is determined photometrically, with the final result expressed as mg/L COD (mg/L O₂).
Vial Preparation
The manufacturer's procedure uses a clean 16 mm × 100 mm COD vial.
The documented preparation involves:
- Add 0.25 mL CODC2 using the supplied syringe.
- Add CODS3 reagent to the specified mark and transfer it into the vial.
- Add ½ spoon of CODM1 powder.
- Close the vial and swirl for approximately 15 seconds.
- The prepared vial is then ready for 0–15,000 ppm COD testing.
COD Testing Procedure
The manufacturer's documented procedure uses:
- A blank vial prepared with COD-free demineralized water.
- A sample vial containing the water sample.
- Tight closure and mixing.
- Digestion at 150°C for 2 hours.
- Cooling naturally for approximately 15–20 minutes.
- Measurement using a compatible COD meter/analyzer.
Applications
APCODR3 is suitable for COD testing in:
- Industrial wastewater
- Effluent water
