What is COD?
Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) indicates the amount of oxygen required to chemically oxidize organic substances in a water sample. COD testing is widely used for monitoring municipal wastewater, industrial wastewater, process water and environmental water.

How It Works
- Add the required water sample to the COD tube according to the Lovibond procedure.
- Digest the sealed tube in a suitable COD thermoreactor.
- After digestion, allow the tube to cool as specified.
- Place the tube in a compatible Lovibond photometer/colorimeter.
- The instrument determines the COD concentration photometrically.
Compatible Lovibond Equipment
The COD MR tube test is intended for use with compatible Lovibond COD photometric systems, including applicable MD-series colorimeters/photometers and COD setups. The complete COD setup combines a photometer, COD reactor, tube tests and vial stand.
