Test Principle

The BACTASLYDE H₂S Vial test detects microorganisms capable of producing hydrogen sulphide (H₂S) under the test conditions.

After the water sample is added to the vial and kept under the manufacturer's recommended conditions, the vial is observed for a colour change.

Result Interpretation

Negative / No H₂S Reaction:
No characteristic black colour development is observed within the specified test period.

Positive / H₂S Reaction:
Development of a black colour indicates H₂S-producing bacterial activity in the sample.

A positive result is an indication for further microbiological investigation and should not by itself be interpreted as definitive proof of faecal contamination or the presence of a specific pathogenic organism.
